EXTENDED – New submission deadline – Monday, February 27

Harlem Renaissance: Contemporary Response is a juried visual art exhibition featuring works by Emerging or Young Artists inspired by artists associated with the Harlem Renaissance (1918-1937), a theme that will also be explored through the performing arts in COCA’s production of Uptown in Founders’ Theatre April 7-9, 2017.

Visual artists such as Jacob Lawrence, Romare Bearden, Henry Ossawa Tanner, Archibald J. Motley, Aaron Douglass, and Gordon Parks as well as the literature, music, and dance of the time provide the inspiration. All explorations and interpretations of the theme are invited. Artworks in all 2D media (including photography), techniques and styles are encouraged.

ELIGIBILITY
Open to Emerging or Young Artists 16-24 years of age living in the St. Louis, Missouri region and surrounding 50-mile radius.

ENTRY DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED
The deadline to submit works for this exhibit: Monday, February 27, 2017 (11:59 CST). There is no fee. Entries for this exhibition are accepted online only at artopencall@cocastl.org 

NOTIFICATION
Exhibition artists will be notified via email by Friday, March 10, 2017
