The St. Louis Map Room: Plotting History, Marking Memories

From March 3–April 9, 2017, Jer Thorp, The Office for Creative Research and COCA took over the Stevens School gymnasium and transformed it into a community space for exploring and creating original, interpretive maps of the city.

Community groups, schools, businesses and fellow non-profits sent teams of map-makers to fill the space with hanging history. Among the points plotted were personal memories, historic markers of note and the lines real and imaginary that have come to define our city.

Take a quick look at the video below or visit cocastl.org/stlmaproom for more information on where the maps live now, and upcoming Map Room projects happening in other cities.
