COCA offers classes for all ages in early childhood, art & design, dance, theatre, voice, and fitness. Summer Arts Camps build on these disciplines by adding culinary arts, circus skills, video production and more. COCA’s arts classes and camps are offered at its University City facility and at locations throughout the St. Louis area.



COCA Student Handbook

COCA classes meet afternoons, evenings and weekends.
Fall Classes begin on or around the Tuesday after Labor Day.
Winter/Spring Classes begin on or around the Tuesday after Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Summer Classes begin on or around the first Monday in June.
Class registration begins approximately two months prior to the semester.


Summer Arts Camps at COCA begin on or around the first Monday in June and run weekly through approximately the second full week of August. COCA’s second off-site camp location runs a shorter schedule within this period.
Open camp registration begins on or around the last Saturday in January. Early camp registration begins for COCA Annual Fund donors approximately two prior to open camp registration.

COCA recently updated its online registration software, which has allowed us to simplify our registration process and make all transactions possible online!
1. Registration Fee
There will be an annual registration fee of $30 per person. No need for two transactions online! The $30 registration fee will automatically be added to your order, if needed.

*Registration fee will be waived for current
COCA Members until their expiration date, after which they will be required to pay the annual registration fee.

2. Single Price
There is now just one price for every class. Price is calculated based on discipline, length of class and faculty needed to teach the class.

3. Multi-Class Discount
Students registering for three or more full-semester classes are eligible for a discount. The multi-class discount is now available through online registration! Discount applies per person, per semester.

1st & 2nd class: always full price
3rd & 4th class: $60 off each class
5th & above: $100 off each class

4. Payment Plan
COCA’s Payment Plan is now available through online registration! No minimum amount to participate. A $10 fee and 25% of the total tuition is due at time of registration.

5. Waitlist
Students can be waitlisted for full courses online without the purchase of a registration fee.

6. Pre-Professional Division
COCA now offers package pricing for all members of the Pre-Professional Division. More information will be provided to students to which this applies.

Refunds can only be processed by COCA registrars, not online. Please pay attention to withdrawal deadlines. Withdrawals must be completed in writing.

Registration Fees

A $30 annual registration fee per student is required.

Returned Payment Policy

It is COCA’s policy to charge a $25 fee for any returned payments (checks or credit cards). Offenders may lose the privilege to pay via check, credit card and payment plan.

COCA's annual financial assistance application period is July 1-31. Depending on fund availability, there may be an additional period November 1-15. Applications are available both online and at COCA. Applications are not mailed. Contact the Registration Office, Monday-Friday 9:00am-6:00pm and Saturday 9:00am-3:00pm, at 314.561.4898.

COCA is pleased to offer need-based financial assistance on a limited basis through the generous support from patrons, foundations and corporations. Financial assistance is awarded regardless of race, sex, religion, disability, sexual orientation or national origin. Financial assistance is determined by family income and awarded on a sliding scale.

Financial assistance is awarded on the availability of funds for the entire year-this includes the Fall, Winter/Spring, and Summer semesters. Financial assistance is not available for COCA Summer Arts Camps. Assitance is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be guaranteed for all applicants. Approximately two weeks after the end of the application period, letters are sent to applicants notifying them of their status. Applicants must reapply each year. Funding availability, account standing and attendance all affect an individual's ability to receive/maintain financial assistance.

Withdrawal Policy

Tuition fees will be refunded (less a $25 processing fee per class), if the student withdraws before the semester begins.
  • Fall: September 6
  • Winter/Spring: January 17
  • Summer Camps (June camps and child care): May 1
  • Summer Camps (July and August camps and child care): June 1
  • Summer Classes: June 1
If you must withdraw after the deadline, no refund will be given and any scheduled payments are still due, except for medical reasons, documented on doctor’s letterhead. Withdrawals must be submitted in writing by completing the drop form available at the front desk or online. Registration fees are non-refundable. COCA cannot provide refunds or credits for classes missed by students due to illness, personal schedule conflicts or for other reasons. There are no exceptions to this policy.


Transfers must be completed in writing and to a class within the same semester.


Online registration if a class is full, you can choose to add your name to the waitlist.
Registration form–Check the box next to your class selection on the registration form if you are interested in being placed on a waitlist if your class is full. You will be contacted if a space in the program opens.

Cancellation policy

In the event that a class does not reach the required minimum (typically 6 students) or there are circumstances beyond our control, COCA reserves the right to cancel. You will be notified, and we will be happy to work with you to find a suitable replacement. If no replacement can be settled upon, COCA will refund your money in full, less your non-refundable registration fee or membership, if purchased. PLEASE NOTE: In the event that an act of nature (i.e. severe storm, power outage, etc.) or civil disturbance necessitates the closing of any COCA program in University City or any other off-site location, COCA is not responsible for providing a make-up session, credit or refund of any kind.


$20 per class

For professional performing artists and college students ONLY, the COCA Class Pass allows users to “drop-in” to classes at their convenience, regardless of their busy rehearsal and performance schedules. The COCA Class Pass is meant for experienced dancers and can be used only for intermediate and advanced dance classes.

Class Cards can be purchased online or in person. Please check-in at COCA’s front desk with Patron Services to redeem your pass at least 10 minutes prior to class start times.
