COCAcabana 2013: After Dark
When The Lights Go Down The Arts Come AliveCOCAcabana 2013 raised more than $800,000 for COCA’s educational programs, exceeding expectations by $100,000! With nearly 650 business and community leaders in attendance, this year’s event on Friday, April 26, featured a specialty cocktail hour with hors d’oeuvres provided by some of St. Louis’ hottest restaurants, a three-course dinner under the tent, dancing to the spins of St. Louis favorite DJ Reggie and more than a few surprises for guests! The annual live auction was hosted by celebrity guest Billy Bush of Access Hollywood and auctioneer David Goodman, and featured a performance by COCA’s Hip-Hop Crew that brought guests to their feet!
We are grateful to COCAcabana 2013 Event Co-Chairs Lindsay and Scott Bush, Mary and Bob Ciapciak, Hazel and Arnold Donald and Stephanie and Mark Schnuck as well as Honorary Chair, Nathalie Means, Principal of Jefferson Elementary School - an Interchange Program Participant, and the Committee members. We also thank our Presenting Sponsor Anheuser-Busch Companies, Live Auction Sponsor The Lincoln Motor Company and Lead Scholarship Sponsors The Boeing Company, Centene Charitable Foundation, McCormack Baron Salazar and Mercy. Finally, we must thank the many generous Sponsor, Host, Patron and Friend guests whose participation made the evening so financially successful for COCA.

Why COCAcabana?
With a core value of accessibility, COCA annually provides more than $800,000 in arts programs at no cost in low-income schools and more than 400 scholarships for students to participate in COCA programs. Accounting for nearly 20 percent of COCA’s annual contributed revenue, COCAcabana is crucial to continuing this outreach. One recipient of COCA’s outreach efforts is Jefferson Elementary School in the St. Louis Public School District. COCA has integrated the arts into Jefferson’s curriculum and after-school programming for more than 15 years. We were honored to have the school’s principal, Nathalie Means, as an honorary chair of COCAcabana 2013 to represent the Jefferson students and remind us of the real reason for the party.
