Homeroom Monitor
Reports to the Discovery Young Artist Program Manager
This entry level position is an hourly, part time position with hours on Monday-Friday evenings. The homeroom coordinator assists our Pre-Professional Division by supervising students in the Homeroom Monday through Friday approximately from 4:00-9:00pm during normal semester classes.
Tasks will include, but are not limited to:
- Meet the students at the COCA Bus/Van and escort them to Homeroom
- Facilitate check-in and handing out sack lunches
- Help students get ready for class and make sure they are on time for their scheduled classes
- Make sure students complete homework and utilize provided tutors
- Supervise students in the homeroom between their classes
- Supervise student chore assignments set by the DYA Manager
- Escort students onto the COCA Bus/Van at designated departure times
- During downtime :
- Assist with Wash/Dry Discovery Young Artists dancewear
- Make sack lunches
- Straighten up the homeroom and lock up at the end of the night
Job Specifications
- Minimum high school diploma with college credit in related field preferred
- Excellent oral communication and time management skills
- Experience working with children in a classroom, after school, or summer camp setting
- Ability to problem-solve, be flexible, imaginative and innovative
- Ability to take initiative in the development of ideas and programs
- Possess and demonstrate an excellent work ethic, positive attitude and sense of humor
Physical Requirement
- Must be able to lift at least 20 lbs
- Ability to circulate around building on foot and navigate stairs
