Event Description

Set in the underground dance clubs, radio stations and recording studios of 1950s Memphis, this hot musical bursts off the stage with explosive dancing, irresistible songs and a tale filled with laughter, soul and rock & roll!

Memphis is directed by Duane Foster, fine arts coordinator for Normandy Schools Collaborative; music directed by Philip Woodmore, voice coordinator at COCA; and choreographed by Christopher Page-Sanders, co-founder and co-artistic director of the Nu-World Contemporary Dance Theatre and member of the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble.

The cast of Memphis includes 35 talented pre-professional theatre students, who represent 25 different zip codes and 21 schools from across the region. Following tradition, the production also includes several collegiate alumni from the COCA Theatre Company.

Run Time: 2 hours 30 minutes (plus 15-minute intermission)

Recommended for ages 9 and up due to length and adult content, including language, mild violence and implied sexual situations.
