AUG 3–7 | 9:00AM–3:00PM | $330 | AGES 14 TO 18
Aspiring designers sharpen their skills at reading and analyzing a script, imagining the physical world of the play, and creating designs in their choice of discipline. Students create a set design, including renderings and drawings; a costume design comprised of renderings and sketches; or a lighting design, which includes rendering and drawings. Along the way, they refine the communication skills they need for effective design dialogue in a theatre production. They learn what it takes to build or alter the designs they have conceived by exploring COCA’s brand new Berges Theatre, the scene and costume shops, and light/sound booth. Students leave the intensive with material for a design portfolio and have the opportunity to participate in developing and supporting the technical aspects of COCA’s Youth Musical Hairspray JR. in performance on August 7 & 8. Interested students should submit 3–5 jpgs of their work and a statement of intent to Shawna Flanigan, Director of Arts Education & Program Development.
