Aeren Jhae Bates
Aeren Jhae Bates holds a MFA in Arts Management and Leadership from Webster University. Bates is a native of Omaha, Nebraska, and grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she was heavily involved in the arts community. A graduate of the Milwaukee High School of the Arts, Aeren has studied with Milwaukee Ballet, Ko~Thi Dance Company and Danceworks, as well as with members of Dallas Black, Alvin Ailey and Fosse. Aeren graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where, as a Theatre Arts major, she co-founded the Floor Rockers Hip-Hop Dance Team and created many works for plays and concerts. Aeren is an AHSS Research award-winning choreographer and has been a senior company member of Tidwell Project Dance Ensemble and Renaissance Dance Crew. Aeren in 2013 became RAC’s Katherine Dunham Fellow and has worked at several St. Louis arts organizations since. Currently, Ms. Bates works at COCA in both faculty and administrative positions.
