COCA Started as a Dream—And Continues with You

Make a gift today and be part of the legacy that inspires dreams for years to come.

Since 1986, COCA has been committed to enriching lives and building community through the arts. COCA’s story began as a dream to bring people together through the arts and make the world a better place.

COCA’s founders—a small group of artists and community leaders—imagined a space where the arts could be a bridge between people of all walks of life. They had a shared purpose to create opportunities for the community to engage in the arts, and COCA began as a community-based visual and performing arts center.

The dream continued to grow, fueled by bold ideas and innovative arts programs. COCA evolved into a regional hub where learning through the arts could belong to everyone—regardless of age, background, or experience.

It became a place where:

  • children discover the thrill of a first stage moment,
  • teens find their voice in a chorus or confidence in a dance studio,
  • adults of all ages explore new crafts, share new stories, and reconnect with their creativity,
  • and so much more.

Today, COCA reaches nearly 60,000 individuals each year. It stands as a national example of what a multidisciplinary arts organization can be—a catalyst for education, innovation, and inclusive opportunity.

The momentum continues through the contributions of time, talent, and treasure from members of our community.

As we look to the future, COCA remains deeply rooted in its mission and belief in the healing power of the arts. COCA continues to be a safe space for creative expression—empowering individuals, strengthening communities, and sparking dreams that shape a more creative, connected, and inclusive world.

COCA’s 40-year journey is more than a milestone—it’s a pledge. A pledge to keep opening doors, amplifying voices, and turning bold ideas into lasting connections for years to come.
