Barometric Pressure Change

Solo Exhibition by Maria Ojascastro

Mixed media artist Maria Ojascastro invites the viewer to embrace shared connections, focusing on what unites us rather than what sets us apart. St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s Pat Eby says her art “reveal[s] themselves by degrees.” Through layered colors, fine distinctions of line, shape, and form, her pieces build energy and imagery that draw viewers in, speaking “universal truths through her very personal lens.”

Barometric Pressure Change tells a story of wellness through art that will help others’ light continue to shine. This exhibit includes a site-specific installation that is intended to inspire childlike awe and wonder to adults. Her art layers prints, paint, botanicals, text, found objects, and sound as a meditation on resilience, salvaged from the relics of interrupted journeys. Recent exhibits include a living mural for Pedal the Cause, a group exhibit at Red Gate Gallery, a platform for experimental and socially engaged art and a solo exhibit at Keystone Gallery at Five Oaks. You can see one of her artworks, “Yellow Shadow” on the cover of “A Moth Collection,” a book of poetry written by Anna Guzon published by Finishing Line Press.
