Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most famous stories and the classic animated film, Disney’s The Little Mermaid  takes the audience to a magical underwater kingdom. In this world, a young mermaid dreams to leave her ocean home to live on land. With music by eight-time Academy Award winner, Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater, and a compelling book by Doug Wright, this tale captures hearts with its unforgettable songs, including “Under the Sea,” “Kiss the Girl,” and “Part of Your World.”

Register to Audition

Interested students, Ages 10–19, should prepare 32 bars of a song and sign up for a 5-minute audition appointment. Callbacks will be by appointment and held January 31 from 3:00–6:00PM for those students asked to return. The callback will involve reading and singing from the script and a dance call.

Please bring sheet music for your song with a clear beginning and end marked for the accompanist along with a copy of your headshot and resume to the audition. Be sure to also have a list of conflicts from June 8–July 26, 2026.

Rehearsals begin June 8, 2026, and will primarily occur MON–FRI 4:30–9:00PM with weekend rehearsal times closer to the performance dates for tech rehearsals. Performances are July 17–19 and July 24–26, 2026.

COCA Pre-Professional Division (PPD) students are eligible to come straight to callbacks. Please contact Rachel Schneider (rschneider@cocastl.org) to register. You must register within 24 hours of callbacks to be eligible.

Students cast will be asked to pay a $450 participation fee; sliding scale tuition is available to qualified students.
