Norma Gabriel has taught dance at COCA since 1989. She has also enjoyed assisting dancers and their families as Ballet Coordinator and working with Ballet Eclectica as Assistant Artistic Director. Norma holds a BFA in Ballet from the University of Utah and a Master of Fine Arts from Southern Methodist University.
Besides her current position as instructor at COCA, Norma is a member of the Washington University Adjunct Faculty in Dance. As a teacher, she has studied pedagogy and ballet curriculum to better instruct her students, most recently concentrating on the Vaganova technique, but looking forward to additional study in American Ballet Theatre’s National Training Curriculum. Norma enjoyed a performing career both in ballet (Ballet West; the Dallas Ballet), and modern dance (Dancers Unlimited in Dallas; MADCO) and hopes to pass on the joy that this experience brings to COCA’s students.
