The Dance Program within COCA’s Pre-Professional Division is designed for students who have aspirations for a professional career in dance. COCA offers the highest quality dance training in the region with the rigorous, diverse instruction necessary to achieve the highest levels of professionalism and performance.

The Dance program offers training within three focused areas of study:

  • Classical and Contemporary Ballet
  • Modern and Contemporary Dance
  • Hip-Hop and Commercial Dance

Opportunities for students in the program include training with professional guest artists, unforgettable performance opportunities, and individualized career guidance. COCA offers a nurturing path for every student based on their own aspirations, ideas, and perspectives.

Students audition for acceptance into the Dance program. Auditions are held annually in May. Once accepted, students enter the Junior or Senior division based on age and are placed in the appropriate level classes based on technique and ability demonstrated in their audition or with faculty approval. Students accepted into the Junior or Senior division also may be placed in one of COCA’s Student Companies. Class requirements vary based on Student Company level.
