Carly Vanderheyden is a recent graduate from the University of Iowa, where she earned a B.F.A. in Dance, B.A. in Health and Human Physiology – Health Promotion, and certificate in Arts Entrepreneurship. In pursuing her B.F.A at Iowa, Carly broadened her dance training in classes and rehearsal processes with Autumn Eckman, Marc Macaranas, Chafin Seymour, Melinda Jean Myers, George de la Peña, Armando Duarte, Eloy Barragán, Eleanor Goudie-Averill, Mario Zambrano, along with other visiting guest artists and choreographers. Additionally, Carly attended intensives at the Martha Graham School, the American Dance Festival, DanceWorks Chicago, and the Kirov Academy of Ballet. Carly is a certified teacher with the ABT National Training Curriculum for pre-primary ballet through level three, and she is a 200-Hour Yoga certified teacher. When she is not dancing herself, Carly is continually growing her freelance photography business, specializing in dance performance and head shot photography. Currently, Carly is a trainee with The Big Muddy Dance Company, while also serving as the company’s Communications Intern for the 2017-18 season.
