Bruh Rabbit And Them Play Too Much
Solo Exhibition by Bharat Ajari
This show is a re-examination of African American folklore, as inspired by the Uncle Remus folklore stories. The adaptation of visual imagery of these stories is viewed through the satire of the Ralph Bakshi film, Coonskin. The purpose of the show is to demonstrate the role of humor, as a form of resistance and resilience in ever-changing situations. Artist Bharat Ajari is an adjunct instructor in writing and psychology and has taught at several colleges in the St. Louis area. He was a contributing writer for All the Art magazine, a visual arts quarterly magazine in St. Louis until the magazine ceased publication due to the pandemic. He has recently exhibited his painting at St. Louis Community College–Forest Park and at the French Curve Gallery.
